After Pink October which aims to raise awareness against breast cancer, the month of November also has its cause to highlight. Created 21 years ago in Australia by the Movember Foundation Charity, Movember arrived here a little later, as the foundation gained popularity.
Movember: what is mustache month?
Movember is the contraction of “mo” (mustache in everyday Australian language) and “november”. Concretely, the foundation invites all men to grow a mustache for 30 days. This is to raise awareness among the general public of male pathologies and raise funds for medical research. We are talking in particular about prostate cancer and testicular cancer.
“Our goal is to help people around the world live happier, healthier and longer lives. This ambition is the pillar of all our actions, the driving force behind our campaigns, our financing strategy and our vision for the future,” explain the organizers on the Movember website.
Pink October: why it is important to support the fight against breast cancer
Many activities are organized during the month of November to raise awareness of the cause and raise funds.
To participate, men are invited to register on the site (they then become MoBro) and then share photos of the progress of their mustache on social networks and on the Movember website. They can invite their loved ones to participate and make donations.
Please note, beards are not accepted, only mustaches are: you must therefore shave everything!
