Andropause: Jimmy Mohamed puts the spotlight on a taboo subject and arouses the curiosity of Thomas Sotto

His knowledge, Jimmy Mohamed decided to share it. Every day, in The Health Magazine on Télévisions, but also on its social networks where the one of the most famous doctors is followed by more than a million people on Instagram, almost two million on TikTok. When he’s not talking about the cream he recommends to fight against old age, or the food you need to include in your daily routine, he sometimes touches on more taboo subjects. While female menopause is a widely discussed subject, particularly by Jimmy Mohamed, at the end of October, he spoke about male menopause.

It was on RTL, in Thomas Sotto’s morning show, that the 36-year-old scientist spoke on this very little discussed subject: andropause. “This is the fact that over time, as we age, men produce less testosterone. These are therefore disorders linked to sexuality, with for example the loss of the morning erection, an erection of poorer quality, but also a drop in libido.and therefore less sexual intercourse“, he explained. But is this a frequent phenomenon? Doctor Jimmy Mohamed, father of three children born from his love affair with his wife Souailla, reveals that it is very difficult to answer, as this phenomenon is so widespread complicated to quantify.

Jimmy Mohamed warns about menopause in men: what are the symptoms?

Difficult to say because it is not well diagnosed, but it is estimated that 20% of men aged 50 suffer from it, and more than half of men over 70, he said. In fact, unlike menopause, which is manifested by the cessation of menstrual cycles, andropause is more difficult to diagnose. Because in reality, it goes well beyond the question of sexuality.“Thomas Sotto then asked Jimmy Mohamed what the other symptoms were. He listed them, a tendency to gain weight, muscle loss, hot flashes, sleep problems, slightly greater fatigue but also neuro-psychological signs.

On this last part, the doctor clarified his remarks. “These are men who will complain of memory problems, irritability, but also signs of depression“, he explained. Untreated, these men who are in the andropause phase can in fact suffer from serious depression, due to a lack of testosterone hormones. Do you have an appointment available quickly?“, laughed Thomas Sotto. The doctor advised men with these suggestive symptoms to then have their testosterone tested. Treatment can then be administered to them, once other illnesses have been ruled out. According to him, the treatment has no side effects. And the quality of life of men could be more than improved.
