There is no question for the practitioners of these establishments to practice, isolated, within the four walls of their clinic. Initiatives are flourishing, from one side of Bordeaux to the other, between establishments first, and especially towards and for patients all around the city and surrounding areas to cover the health needs of the territory.
Dr Laure Villet-Welti is one of his doctors. A geriatrician at the Bordeaux Caudéran Polyclinic, she participates in the Mobile Geriatric Team (EMOG), a multidisciplinary team, with psychologist, social worker, nurse who travels to the homes of elderly people or directly to nursing homes. “Since its creation in 2023, EMOG has established itself as an essential player in geriatric care in the Bordeaux region, with more than 130 interventions carried out in just one year. This mobile team completes the range of varied and local care offered by the Polyclinique Bordeaux Caudéran in geriatrics. An expertise which enabled it to obtain the first authorization for an EMOG granted in France by a Regional Health Agency to a private establishment. It is a service provided to the territory and the population, that is to say to people who, thanks to the mobile team, have access to the care they need. »
Coordinated support between the left and right banks
The group’s clinics are also keen to work together to coordinate care between the left bank and the right bank, and to offer excellent care channels to all. Thus Dr Olivier Fitoussi, onco-hematologist at the Polyclinique Bordeaux Nord Aquitaine, explains to us how it works in perfect partnership with Dr Guillaume Vial, internist at the Polyclinique Bordeaux Rive Droite: “Dr Guillaume Vial is based on the right bank, and together we offer a range of care that we hope is optimal for the treatment of hematological cancers. He takes care of the diagnostic expertise and I organize the therapeutic care. We are thus part of a complementarity where the general practitioner has his place by referring the patient to Dr Vial for the etiological assessment part. This is the first gateway! In a certain number of cases, it is the specialist who refers to Dr Vial for further exploration. And finally, there is a third entry point where the patient can be directed after a visit to the emergency room, which is present on both banks within our establishments. »
