To have a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), when you live in Roumois, the closest is to go to the Risle hospital center in Pont-Audemer (Eure) or to a radiology center in the Rouen metropolitan area. Good news came last week. In Bourg-Achard, Pierre-Hurabielle hospital should welcome in summer 2026 an imaging center with the following specialties: mammography, radiology, ultrasound, MRI and CT.
The information was made official by the Regional Health Agency (ARS) on Wednesday October 30, 2024, confirmed by Marc Migraineradiologist and project leader within the Estuaire radiological group Nora Imagerie based in Le Havre (Seine-Maritime), associated with the Normandy radiological center.
The future imaging center will not integrate the existing hospital, “but a 300 m building2 will be built on the hospital parking lot. It will be located 300 meters from the Alexis-Carrel medical home »indicates Marc Migraine, whose objective is to open the center in June 2026. He adds that a radiologist will be permanently present from Monday to Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., as well as on Saturday morning.
Why choose Bourg-Achard?
Four municipalities were candidates to benefit from an imaging center: Barentin, Pavilly, Bois-Guillaume and Bourg-Achard. The ARS opted for the European commune. For what ? First reason, the department of Eure is unfortunately recognized for being a medical desert. The need for health professionals is dire. According to Nora Imagerie, the density of radiologists in Eure is 5 per 100,000 inhabitants compared to 13 per 100,000 inhabitants nationally.
The territory of Roumois Seine is also marked by a constant increase in its demographics, the development of its activity zones, without forgetting the future opening of the high school campus in Bourg-Achard.
Bourg-Achard is both in the health sector of Rouen and in Eure which is a medical desert.
“We are located at the crossroads of the medical areas of Rouen, Le Havre and Eure Seine, near the A13 and A28 motorways. The establishment of a radiology center would be considered a breath of fresh air for our territory in the face of the significant progression of medical desertification in the west of the Eure department and even in the north of Orne. , supported last March Sylvain Bonenfantthe president of Roumois Seine, after receiving Marc Migraine and representatives from Hurabielle hospital at community headquarters to support the project with the ARS.
Faced with the three other applications, Marc Migraine affirms that the geographical position of Bourg-Achard was an asset in convincing the ARS: “ Our file was unanimously approved members of the Specialized Commission for the Organization of Care (CSOS) which brings together all health stakeholders in the region: representatives of patients, doctors, clinics, hospitals. It is an organ of health democracy. The ARS followed the opinion of the CSOS,” declares the radiologist.
Concerning the financial part, Marc Migraine reveals the cost of the project which amounts to a total of 4 million euros (building construction work and equipment) financed by the Nora Imagerie group and the Norman radiological center.
