Robot-assisted interventions at the Lautrec Clinic in

Nearly a hundred patients suffering from severe obesity were able to benefit from bariatric surgery carried out with the assistance of the Da Vinci X robot in one year.

For patients, robot-assisted surgery allows for faster post-operative recovery, fewer post-operative complications, smaller scars, reduced pain and shorter hospitalization times; hospitalizations last approximately two days and are carried out according to the early rehabilitation protocol.

For the surgeon, this new technology provides very high precision thanks to 3D vision for an operating time comparable to a traditional laparoscopy. The Lautrec clinic is the only health establishment in to offer this type of surgery.

The “Da Vinci” is a surgical robot equipped with four articulated arms: the first manages the optics and the three others use the same types of instruments adapted for classic laparoscopic surgery.

The surgeon guides the robotic arms, seated at a console next to the patient. It uses two joysticks and foot pedals to control and select which arms to use. The robot faithfully reproduces the movements of the surgeon’s hands, from the console to the robotic arms, while providing the possibility of articulating the instruments 360°.

The 3D vision gives the surgeon a feeling of total immersion in the operating field, combined with incomparable image stability and precision, facilitating the surgical procedure.
