The North West Health Unit says laboratory tests have confirmed that a Sioux Lookout infant’s symptoms are not due to measles.
According to a spokesperson for the Thunder Bay District Health Unit, the last case in Northwestern Ontario was more than 25 years ago.
Public Health Ontario has recorded 23 cases of measles since January 1, 2024, all in the south of the province.
There were six hospitalizations and one death.
A measles, mumps and rubella vaccination session was held Friday afternoon in Sioux Lookout.
A second session scheduled for June 1 was canceled after the announcement of the results of the laboratory analyzes.
