With more than 15 years of experience in cancer prevention and screening in Aveyron, Dr Caline Ngounou Nzietchueng continues to promote “moving towards” public health actions.
You are at the 5th edition of women’s health day at the Luc-la-Primaube health center. Does this reflect women’s interest in this type of proposal?
After the health crisis, it seemed urgent to us to rethink our approach to our public health actions.
Pick up women who, due to the epidemic, were unable to complete their screening within the recommended time frame.
In collaboration with health center doctors, we targeted people who were late for their screening, we contacted them by telephone to offer them the opportunity to participate in a prevention and screening day. The possibility of taking their smear and taking a stool blood test on the same day was appreciated, particularly in this context of difficulty finding a medical appointment.
How many women showed up today?
Thanks to the mobilization of three midwives from the southern Ruthenian health center, around forty women received a screening smear. For some, mammogram appointments are being organized with the Rodez hospital center, and colorectal tests have been delivered.
There are more and more “Pink October” demonstrations, what do you think?
As the years go by, I notice that certain events are moving further and further away from the real subject of public health. Fortunately, not all protests are affected. I remain vigilant in selecting which events to associate the Occitanie cancer screening center with because the primary goal is to go to the essential by offering screening examinations, facilitating mammogram appointments for women eligible for the screening, and raising awareness about cancer prevention.
Are other dates planned?
For “Blue March”, month of promotion of colorectal cancer prevention and screening, Monday March 3 should be noted in the diaries now.
In the morning, a nutritional cancer prevention workshop will be planned at the Luc-la-Primaube health center, with the distribution of screening kits to eligible people, and in the afternoon at the Olemps health center. a health hike will be offered, also associated with a distribution of colorectal screening kits.
