The Montpellier Hérault Association for Breast Cancer Screening (AMHDCS) has just received a MAN TGX 18.480 towing a semi-trailer designed to carry out prevention and awareness operations against breast cancer. The association will thus be able to perform mammograms in medical deserts.
« Mammobile ». The AMHDCS association now uses a mobile unit which travels throughout the Hérault department all year round. At the end of September, it took delivery of a new tractor, a MAN TGX. He is hitched to the semi-trailer designed for breast cancer prevention and awareness.
TGX cabine GM. This model is generally used for long-haul transport. Its cabin is full of pleasant surprises, being equipped with berths with slatted base, a spacious passenger compartment and numerous storage spaces. The TGX is also equipped with the latest active and passive safety systems from MAN.
Heavy stuff loaded into the trailer. The semi carries a mammograph capable of performing the latest generation medical and digital imaging, of the same quality as that in clinics or laboratories.
The doctor on board can therefore perform a mammogram of both breasts directly on site. This traveling laboratory is even accessible to patients in wheelchairs.

Mission mammo. The mission of the AMHDCS is to support the surveillance of breast cancer in women aged 50 to 74. They are detected with the support of the Primary Health Insurance Fund.
« Thanks to this new vehicle, we will be able to continue our mission of prevention and awareness with even more efficiency, by reaching out to the women who need it most. », relates Silvia Loy Morel, director of the structure. This vehicle represents much more than a simple means of transport for the association: “ it embodies our commitment to women’s health and the solidarity which is the strength of our action ».
A shared commitment. « We are very happy to have been able to deliver this MAN TGX to the Montpellier Hérault Association for breast cancer screening which works for the prevention of this disease », Enthuses Rodolphe Tourné, sales director of Etablissements Magarinos.
Results. To date, the cancers discovered using Mammobile are, in one in two cases, small cancers. Women who are screened are treated quickly, so it is easier to treat them. Since 1990, more than 600,000 screening tests have been carried out.
