This Wednesday, October 16, the town of Revel, east of Haute-Garonne, welcomes health professionals for a day of free screenings, as part of Pink October.
This Wednesday, October 16 in the Claude Nougaro room from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., the Revel municipality and the Lauragais Professional Territorial Health Community (CPTS) are organizing a free day dedicated to the screening of three types of cancer: breast (mammography), cervix (smear) and colon (screening kit).
Thematic workshops and conferences on self-examination, menopause, diet and cancer, violence against women and many others are also organized.

A delay to catch up
The municipal health assistant, Jérôme Garcia, recalls the importance of carrying out these examinations, from the recommended age: 50 years for breast cancer, 25 years for cervical cancer and 50 years for colon cancer.

“In our territory, there is a slight relaxation in terms of screening, especially with regard to mammography,” notes the elected official. “At the intercommunal level, the percentage is lower than the average for Haute-Garonne. Less than one in two women are screened while everyone should. This day is an opportunity to make up for this delay.”
