As part of the Local Health Contract in Cornouaille and supported by Quimper Cornouaille Développement (QCD), Quimper Western Brittany (QBO) and the City of Quimper (Finistère), the French association of polyathritics and chronic inflammatory rheumatism (AFPric) is organizing the 24the polyarthritis fair.
“The disease affects nearly 300,000 people in France and more than 4,300 in Finistère, specifies the president of the AFPric, Irène Pico-Philippe. It generally appears around the age of 40 to 60 and particularly affects women. »
Get tested early
Polyarthritis is a chronic autoimmune disease that causes severe pain. It destroys joints.
People who suffer from it and their caregivers are often helpless in the face of this disease, which can take several forms and affect the joints but also the spine, the skin in the form of psoriasis or the eyes, the intestines and the lungs.
Hence the need to be screened as early as possible because new treatments from biotherapy can stop joint destruction. We can then live normally. We are moving towards remission under treatment.
Irène Pico-Philippe, president of the French association of polyarthritics and chronic inflammatory rheumatism (AFPric); Caroline Dubois, local health contract project manager at Quimper Cornouaille development (QCD); Mikaël Bolloré, deputy director at QCD; Françoise Richard, municipal councilor responsible for the inclusion of people with disabilities; Yvonne Rainero, responsible for health and prevention: they presented the 24e polyarthritis fair.
