PFRs can also offer a home respite offer: the “freed time” system. It allows people being helped to stay at home, thanks to the intervention of a professional, replacing the caregiver for a well-defined time (one to four consecutive hours).

The “Caregivers Listening Line” (0806 806 830)

The “Ligne Ecoute Aidants” telephone platform, supported by the MND Occitanie association, is a service dedicated to caregivers and those close to patients affected by a neurodegenerative disease.

A team of psychologists aware of neurodegenerative diseases and in supporting caregivers, is accessible every day in the evening by simply calling 0806 806 830 (from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. – 7 days a week).

The interview is free, anonymous and confidential. This system is entirely financed by ARS Occitanie.

Helping partner centers (PPA)

In order to best meet the needs of caregivers, actors who work in favor of caregivers (carers, associations, institutions, politicians, etc.) come together within the framework of Helping Partner Centers to co-construct actions most suited to your needs. The ARS participates in it and financially supports its operation.

The objective of the Regional Health Agency is to support the development of these PPAs throughout the Region. In Occitanie, this approach already exists in two departments: Hautes Pyrénées and Tarn-et-Garonne.

Regional respite units (URR) to support caregivers of children with disabilities

For caregivers of children, adolescents and young adults with disabilities, ARS Occitanie is continuing to deploy a temporary support offer, including the creation of regional respite units. These units are aimed at children whose entourage needs a temporary accommodation solution or a period of respite during which continued medical and social support is necessary. This time of reception must also be for the child a period of respite from his daily life.

The three currently existing units are supported by the actors below:

  • The Institute for Young Blind People: regional unit located in
  • ADPEP 34: regional unit located in Saint-André de Sangonis
  • Afdaim-Adapei 11: new unit created in the Aude department

In order to continue the regional network, three new units are planned and will open between 2025 and 2026, in Lozère, Gers and Tarn-et-Garonne.
