Soothe your children’s nights: natural advice from our herbalist

Discover the tips of our herbalist Martine Blaize de Peretti to improve children’s sleep thanks to plants with linden baths and massages with sweet almond oil.

Martine Blaize de Perettiherbalist and doctor of pharmacy, shares tips for soothing toddlers’ sleep problems. On the Facebook page, Gaëlle, a young mother from Aix-en-Provence, wrote to us because her three-year-old son is sleeping poorly.

Plants and the bedtime ritual

For Martine Blaize de Peretti, plants can help a lot, but it is essential to create a calming atmosphere above all. Here are the tips to follow:

  • A soothing lime blossom bath : For a relaxing effect, three times a week, prepare a linden bath. Boil 50 grams of linden in 1.5 liters of water for 5 minutes, leave to infuse for half an hour, then pour the decoction into the bath water.
  • Massage relaxant : After bathing, gently massage the child’s arch and stomach with sweet almond oil, using clockwise circular motions.

A calming drink for bedtime

Before going to bed, Martine recommends a simple and effective drink:

  • blossom water and linden bud : In a glass of water, mix a teaspoon of organic orange blossom water with three drops of lime bud macerate (one drop per year of age). This gentle and soothing drink will help the child fall asleep more easily.
