Students from the IUT of mobilized for Pink October

At the IUT of and more particularly for the ninety first year students of the Marketing Techniques bachelor supervised by their professors Myriam Lainé and Sophie Krysiak, Pink October, the annual communication campaign on breast cancer, combines awareness, mobilization and training. “At the start of the school year, two of our teachers spoke to us about Pink October, a whole month during which information on breast cancer and its screening would circulate on a large scale. Throughout the country but also, through us, in our establishment. Cancer is a scourge that research is fighting, progress of which is totally dependent on the financial resources at its disposal. Pink October is therefore also a time of collection for cancer research in which we have joined without reservation. explains Donavan who, with a symbolic ribbon pinned, goes to join his peers for the group photo for which everyone wears at least one pink item of clothing.

Unreserved mobilization

It was one of the highlights of this Friday, largely devoted to raising awareness of breast cancer screening conducted in workshops with the participation of representatives from the Saint-Quentin branch of the League Against Cancer and the CPAM ( Primary health insurance fund) of Laon.

The first focused their intervention on self-screening by palpation, the second on organized screening reserved for people aged 50 to 75. Saturday October 12, in the Carrefour shopping arcade and at the Tourist Office, but also within their walls throughout the month, the students will offer various items for sale: pins, tote bags, stickers, the proceeds of which will be entirely donated to The League. “A phase of the project which is not unrelated to their training in sales techniques” consider the two teachers who, moreover, are delighted with the great determination which motivates their students.
