2024 vaccination schedule: addition of recommendations against RSV infections

The update of the 2024 vaccination schedule concerns the addition of vaccination recommendations against RSV infections. These will be effective as soon as the vaccines concerned are covered by health insurance.

General recommendations against RSV

Seasonal vaccination against RSV is recommended for all people aged 75 and over according to a one-dose schedule, using the Abrysvo® or Arexvy® vaccine, ahead of the epidemic period.

The need for an annual booster dose has not been established to date. The Abrysvo® and Arexvy® vaccines can be administered concomitantly with a flu vaccine.

Special recommendations against RSV

– People aged 65 and over with chronic respiratory or cardiac pathologies likely to decompensate during RSV infection :

  • one dose with the Abrysvo® or Arexvy® vaccine, before the epidemic period;
  • the need for an annual booster dose has not been established to date;
  • Abrysvo® and Arexvy® vaccines can be co-administered with an influenza vaccine.

– Immunocompetent pregnant women :

  • one dose with the Abrysvo® vaccine, between the 32nd and 36th week of amenorrhea, before the epidemic period and until the end of this period;
  • if the birth occurs less than 14 days after vaccination or in the event of premature birth, catch-up by passive immunization of the newborn with a monoclonal antibody is recommended;
  • the Abrysvo® vaccine can be administered at the same time as a flu or Covid-19 vaccine;
  • the need for an additional dose of Abrysvo® in the event of a new pregnancy has not been established to date.
