ECC certification guarantees, first of all, that the Colorectal Cancer Center practices a real multidisciplinary approach, essential today in the management of cancers. Many specialists are mobilized to share their expertise in the examination of each file: radiologists, nuclear medicine doctors, gastroenterologists, pathologists, visceral surgeons, medical oncologists and radiation oncologists. These doctors, specialists in the treatment of colorectal cancer, propose, through a multidisciplinary consensus, the treatment most suited to each situation and in accordance with international recommendations.

Certification then certifies access to the most recent technologies in surgery and radiotherapy, the main methods of treating colorectal cancer. It also recognizes the involvement of HUG in research, to provide access to new medicines and innovative technologies, still inaccessible outside of academia.

Finally, the quality of care at each stage of treatment is evaluated as well as short, medium and long-term follow-up. All patients thus benefit from a nutritional and psychological assessment, access to integrative medicine, social support and orientation towards the relevant associative structures.
