Breast cancer: too many women do not get screened

The Pink October campaign has just been launched, to remind people of the importance of breast cancer screening. In Haute Savoie the screening rate is 54% and in Savoie 56%. This screening consists of a mammogram every 2 years for women aged 50 and 74. “We are still far from the objective which is 70%” Julie Morand, head of the prevention service at the Savoie Primary Health Insurance Fund, told us.

From the age of 50, women receive a letter from the CPAM to encourage them to get tested. But to go further and advance screening, the CPAM of Savoie has implemented a new action for several months. “We call women who have not yet had their mammogram directly on the phone” Julie Morand explained to us. “And if they wish, we make an appointment directly for them in a radiology office that has space. We can find slots online.”
