A real “awareness”

“Sport is very beneficial because it allows patients to re-socialize,” explains Charlotte Leroux, secretary of the Cancer Action Committee 47. In Agen, several structures offer sports training to people suffering from pathologies and/or in remission. This is the case, for example, of the Rugby Santé 47 club or the Orange bleue Agen gym, which offer adapted sports sessions.

The rugby club, for example, offers to practice with 5 players, without contact and on a reduced pitch to avoid injuries. A practice which is bearing fruit and bringing together many players on the pitch. “There is a real awareness of the benefits of sport, including on the medical side,” says Charlotte Leroux. For its part, the Cancer Action Committee 47 finances adapted sports sessions with coach Sonny Cecot for patients sent by health professionals.

In another form, the Saint Damien stables offer equine therapy sessions. “When you are in the middle of a ride and a horse comes to put its nose on your shoulder, you immediately feel the benefits,” says Charlotte Leroux. So many activities allowing sick people to fight against a sedentary lifestyle and improve their health.
