Several partners have joined forces to bring “Sein’biose” to life, which will take place from June to December 2025. An innovative initiative to say the least, the impetus for which was given by Valérie Renard, who was diagnosed with breast tumors in 2020.
“Experiencing cancer is an earthquake, on a physical, emotional and psychological level, declares the Durbuysian. The disease is often associated with heavy, invasive and disabling curative treatments. We never emerge unscathed. Sometimes it’s a collapse. Sometimes it’s a real rebirth with the emergence of new desires, more in harmony with who we really are. From this cancer springs a new source of life. Because we know too well that life can be short and that every moment is precious.”
“It represents who I am”
Valérie Renard took this new source in particular from a tattoo. “For breast cancer, the question of reconstruction in the event of mastectomy often arises, and quickly, she elaborates. To rebuild your appearance, rediscover your femininity, of which the breast is a symbol par excellence. He is cared for as best he can, sometimes damaged. After its removal, a reconstruction decision is discussed with the surgeon. With us, cosmetic surgery is often offered, and different options are possible.
But initiatives have emerged. To offer an alternative, more poetic and more symbolic, which allows you to reclaim your body differently, to love it differently. It is an artistic tattoo, an indelible mark to give meaning, to rewrite history, its history in its flesh, to sublimate this crash of life. It’s like a rebirth, a strong gesture to no longer be ashamed and regain self-esteem. My tattoo is very personal. It represents who I am. He talks about dreams, travel, rebirth, generosity. All in one design.”
Registrations open to the first candidates
Tattoo artists and candidates for reconstruction by artistic tattoo can now, until December 31, offer their services or submit their request. During the first quarter of 2025, a multidisciplinary committee will establish a selection.
