ICI matin’s guest – Coraline Chollier, vice-president of the midwives student association

More than one in two women between the ages of 50 and 74 do not have their annual mammogram. Yet breast cancer can be cured in 9 out of 10 cases when detected early enough. The latest studies published on the occasion of Pink October show that women have little knowledge of the risk factors for the disease, particularly tobacco and alcohol. So to raise awareness, including among the youngest, Coraline Chollier, vice-president of the AMESF in charge in particular of prevention, recalls some basics.

She advises doing a monthly self-examination from the age of 25 and reminds us that we must not forget to check the collarbone and armpit in addition to the breast. She also advises an annual palpation by a general practitioner, gynecologist or midwife. And a mammogram every year from the age of 50.
