“If everyone contributes, we will beat cancer!” », Launches Karine Manceau alongside Aurélie Fileni and Sylvia Chalencon. Together, the three friends invite everyone to come and enjoy their festive and united day, Saturday September 28, 2024, in Villeneuve-le-Comte, a charming village in Seine-et-Marne. Objective: to raise funds to help children with cancer.

A day of celebration

In the central square, there will be all a series of animations : makeup, tattoo, laser game, ukulele concert, giant zumba, hypnosis, rock concert, crochet initiation, raffle… and the list is not exhaustive!

We wanted something good-natured, family-friendly… like a big fair.

Fight against pediatric cancers

In 2022, these three colleagues shared the desire to commit to a cause. Then they discovered the “Golden September” initiative, the month dedicated to the fight against childhood cancer. “It was obvious,” remembers Aurélie Fileni. “All three of us are mothers so it obviously spoke to us,” adds Karine Manceau.

“And then, we didn’t want to redo something that had already been done and unfortunately, Golden September is not very well known,” concludes Sylvia Chalencon. This is how the Golden Girls association was born and how these three colleagues, all three in independent real estate, became friends.

A human adventure

“We started with a lot of enthusiasm and naivety,” says Sylvia Chalencon. In 2023, they organize their first solidarity day and at the end say “never again”. “And then we counted our little money and we went to deposit €6,393 at the institute,” says Aurélie Fileni. There pride that they then felt pushed them to repeat the experience. This year, the event is even twice as big so, who knows, maybe the check they will deposit afterwards will be too!

Whatever the amount, the Golden girls especially hope inspire : “We did it without knowing anything about it, so many other people can get started too and support a cause that supports them,” invites Sylvia Chalencon.

It is also a way to make children aware of the fact that not all children are lucky enough to be in good health, that everyone can help and to introduce them to volunteering.

In any case, they have already worked a lot around them and are keen to thank the traders of Bailly-Romainvilliers and Villeneuve-le-Comte, their partners and the municipality who support them as well as the twenty volunteers who will come to help them on the big day.
