“Fighting against social inequalities in health”: in Sète, a day of prevention on women’s health

Women’s Health Day took place in Sète on Thursday, September 19. The aim of this day is to raise awareness among women about the importance of their health with information stands and numerous free screenings.

It was under the sun and in a good mood that the Women’s Health Day took place, organized on September 19, in front of the health center of the Île de Thau. Co-organized by the CPAM, the CPTS (Territorial Professional Health Community) and the CLS (Local Health Contract), this day is dedicated to information and prevention of women’s health through information stands and screenings.

From 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., a dozen associations allowed women to leave with information, sanitary protection and many other things. They were able to get vaccinated or undergo oral and dental screening or for HIV, hepatitis B and C.

In the afternoon, there were 200 participants. For Malory Planas, present at the CPAM de l’Hérault stand where she is a project manager, this day allows “de combating social inequalities in health“.

One day, three screenings

The special feature of this day is its promise of three screenings in one day. Participants, eligible according to their age, were able to have three screenings for free: breast cancer (mammogram in the Mammobile), cervical cancer (smear test carried out by midwives in the health area) and colorectal cancer (with a donated kit).

On the island of Thau, more than 500 women were contacted by health insurance to inform them that they were eligible for one of these screenings. Saida is one of these women: “The CPAM called me several times to have a mammogram, I came and it went well. It’s very good that it exists”.

The next Women’s Health Day will be held on November 28, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Sainte-Thérèse clinic.
