A 22-year-old Azerbaijani citizen went to a foreign country for tourism from January 2 to 11, 2025 and, a few days after returning, consulted a doctor in one of the clinics operating in Baku with complaints of fatigue , fever, blister-like rashes in the genital area, swollen lymph nodes and muscle pain, said the joint statement by the Union Health Ministry and management of territorial medical units (TABIB), reports the APA.
An infectious disease specialist, based on the patient’s symptoms, suspected monkeypox virus infection and after collecting the patient’s medical history, it was determined that he had traveled to another country and had been in contact with someone with skin rashes during travel.
The patient is currently hospitalized and receiving treatment in hospital conditions.
