Activity at the Vienna hospital is currently disrupted by the flu epidemic which is affecting the entire territory. The situation is nevertheless improving after a temporary white plan launched this Wednesday, January 8.
After the activation of the white plan this Wednesday, the Vienna hospital moved to the hospital stage “under tension” this Thursday, January 9, a sign of the improvement in the situation. Activity nevertheless remains marked by the flu epidemic, which is spreading throughout the country.
The day of this Wednesday was “sensibly normal during a winter period”, confides the management of the establishment to BFM Lyon. However, the white plan could be triggered again if the number of cases starts to rise again in the coming days.
Up to 100 passes per day
Like other establishments in France, the Vienna hospital center triggered the white plan this Wednesday, January 8 “following an increase in a certain number of indicators, notably the number of visits to the emergency room” and to cope to the flu epidemic in Isère.
Since January 1, emergency room visits have increased by around 20%: “compared to 70 to 75 emergency room visits per day in normal times, today there are 90 to 95 with peaks of 100 visits per day”.
Among these new passages, many people present flu-like symptoms. Furthermore, visits to emergency rooms “also increase the number of days of hospitalization in general medicine departments”.
The activation of the white plan thus made it possible to unlock the maximum of the hospital’s capacities to accommodate all parties.
313% increase in two weeks
In critical situations, a white plan also allows “to have reinforcements of personnel in the emergency services”. Currently, Vienna’s emergencies are still regulated at night, between 10 p.m. and 8 a.m. You must call 15 before going there.
According to the latest figures from Public Health France, emergency calls for flu/flu-like illness have increased by 313% in two weeks in Isère. With a rate of 550 per 10,000 emergency room visits for flu, compared to 220 at the end of 2024.
