The association Les Copains d'abord provided assistance, in December, to Francis Matéos, a Balaruois in a very precarious situation and suffering from multiple sclerosis.
It was in the waiting room for their dialysis session that Alex Biancardini, president of the Poussan Multiple Sclerosis association, met Francis Matéos. The latter lives in Balaruc-les-Bains and finds himself in a situation which affected the president of the association.
“A modest pension, which is barely enough to cover housing and electricity expenses”
Affected by multiple sclerosis, Francis Matéos also finds himself in a situation of isolation. Touched by the latter's difficult situation, Alex Biancardini contacted the association Les Copains d'abord, whose objective is to help people weakened by illness, in order to consider a gesture of solidarity with Christmas holidays are approaching.
The president of Friends First, José Llinares, has taken action to help Francis Matéos. “He found himself not only isolated, without family, but also in a very precarious situationsays José Llinarès. We verified his situation thanks to testimonies and a neighborhood survey. A former employee of the Thermes de Balaruc, Mr. Matéos today lives on a modest pension, which is barely enough to cover his housing and electricity expenses.”
“When we went to his house, it broke our hearts”
“When we went to his house, it broke our hearts, continues the president of the association. He lives in public housing in which there is practically no furniture, a tiny TV, two folding chairs to make an armchair, not even a wardrobe to hang his clothes.”
Faced with this overwhelming reality, all the members of Les Copains d'abord responded unanimously to this call for solidarity. The association filled a cart with food for the holidays in a supermarket. “Thanks to this collective momentum, Francis Matéos will be able to experience more serene and comforting Christmas holidays, congratulations José Llinarès. A great proof that, even in the most difficult times, human warmth and solidarity remain essential values.”
