France 5 is offering a new issue of Le Monde de Jamy on Monday January 13 at 9:05 p.m. entitled “Plastic: how to say goodbye to it?” »
Saying goodbye to plastic, mission impossible? It provides us with great services, but there is an urgent need to get rid of it: each French person consumes 70 kg of plastic each year. On a national scale, this represents more than 5 million tonnes, the weight of around a hundred Arc de Triomphe.
And in our oceans, plastic will soon weigh more than fish… Why is it indestructible?
Jamy is investigating an invisible invader, these microparticles of plastic that we find in the air we breathe, up to the tops of our mountains, and in the soil of our fields… With what effects on our health? Thanks to an experiment on snails, we discovered that even our salads are contaminated with plastic.
So what is the solution? Sort our waste of course, but what happens next?
Jamy investigates our recycling plantswhich actually only process a small part of our plastics.
How to do without this packaging that we throw away as soon as we return from shopping? Buying in bulk in supermarkets, is it really hygienic? Are glass jars more eco-friendly than plastic ones? The answer is not necessarily what you think…
To no longer use this petroleum derivative, Jamy meets a Frenchman who may have found the solution: based on algae grown in Brittany, he manufactures a revolutionary material, which has all the properties of plastic, but does not damage nature. Several delivery meal producers have already adopted this plant-based alternative.
