“What image do you have of menopause?“, “What are your sources of information?“, “What do you think about hormonal treatment?“, “Have you talked about it with your partner?“…
For the first time, women are being questioned about how they approach this crucial stage of their lives. The online questionnaire is “anonymous. It is aimed at all generations” specifies the MP for Loiret Stéphanie Rist who was entrusted, in November, with an information mission on menopause.
Poorly informed, women most often find themselves helpless when symptoms appear, due to lack of support. “One of the objectives of our mission is to find ways to better communicate with women about this major change in life.” explains the parliamentarian.
Night sweats, hot flashes, bouts of depression, the consequences of menopause are far from trivial. They have repercussions on professional and family life. When hormonal replacement treatment (HRT) still scares women; as much as to doctors reluctant to prescribe it.
” Ato improve medical care and training of health professionals“, Stéphanie Rist initiated, in parallel with the questionnaire, a series of hearings after the French Society of Gynecology, the order of doctors, specialists in hormonal aging.
The parliamentary inquiry will end in spring 2025. It should help lift the veil on a taboo subject, as little known as it is ignored.
