A ceremony was organized, Thursday, November 28, 2024, in the Trégunc council room, for the presentation of a check for €2,490 to the Entraide Cancer association. This donation follows activities carried out by the municipality and local associations on October 20, as part of Pink October. The mayor, Olivier Bellec, warmly thanked the associations and traders who mobilized for the occasion, as well as the many walkers and runners who did not hesitate to brave the rain for a good cause. “It is these wonderful links that allow us to move forward and remain positive despite illness and current events that are not always very cheerful,” underlined the elected official.
“We get things done”
For her part, Héléne Rannou, co-president of Entraide Cancer, specified that the sums collected in the region benefited local actions. “I am very happy to see that small towns are also participating in Pink October. Thanks to everyone’s mobilization, there are great projects at Quimper hospital, particularly to improve the well-being of patients. And we get things done. Thanks to all of you, we were able to finance a psychologist position at Concarneau hospital for several months, which has since become permanent,” she reported.
The municipality could also organize Mars Bleu
Deputy Fabienne Le Goc-Le Sager, very involved in this mobilization, expressed the wish to also organize Mars Bleu, for the benefit of the fight against colorectal cancer, always in partnership with local associations. “This cancer is very harmful when it is treated too late. And unfortunately, despite awareness, screening is not extensive enough,” said the deputy.
