From November 29 to 30, the famous Telethon takes place. What does it consist of, what is it used for? We’ll explain everything to you!

What is the Telethon?
A mixture of the words “television” and “marathon”, the Telethon is above all an event to watch on every year: for 30 hours straight, the 2 and France 3 channels alternate between reports and broadcasts with celebrities in the aim of raising money for the AFM Téléthon association. Throughout this marathon, the number to call (3637) to make a donation is displayed on the screen, as well as a donation counter which increases gradually.

What are donations used for?
The money raised through the Telethon is used to finance the work of researchers on rare diseases: some seek to better understand these diseases and how they act on the human body, others design drugs to treat them .

When does it take place?
This year, the Telethon takes place on Friday November 29 and Saturday November 20. On television, it begins on Friday at 6:45 p.m. on France 2 and ends with “La grande fête du Téléthon” on Saturday from 9 p.m. to 1:30 a.m., a show in which Mika, the sponsor of the 2024 edition, and d other artists like Clara Luciani and Vianney.
