World AIDS Day was launched in 1988, it was the first international day dedicated to health on a global level. Its aim is to raise awareness of the impact of HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) on people’s lives, the eradication of discrimination, the removal of stigma but also the improvement of the quality of life of people with HIV.

This year’s theme, ” Let’s follow the path of rights », proposes an approach to AIDS based on human rights.

“Are you sure you know everything about HIV and AIDS? : all the information you need to know about the transmission of the virus, means of protection, treatment but also about other sexually transmitted infections (STIs). You will also find the list of organizations where you can get information: information centers, PMI, associations, etc.

Teen questions (love-sexuality) : this brochure answers the most frequently asked questions from adolescents on the themes of love, the body, sexual practices and sexual risks (STIs, HIV/AIDS, unplanned pregnancy).

Note that from middle school, information is provided as part of Life and Earth Sciences (SVT) courses on the modes of transmission and means of prevention of HIV. Health promotion and prevention can also be addressed in the school curriculum of different courses.

New recommendations were announced on November 20, 2024 by health authorities for expand preventive treatment PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis)while the circulation of HIV is still active in France.
