A 2021 report shows that the Breil and Bottière districts are almost half as well equipped with doctors as the rest of the metropolitan area. “In working-class neighborhoods, we have the same difficulties finding a doctor as in certain villages,” said the mayor of recently.

A study on medical demography carried out in October 2021 by the ORS (regional health observatory) at the request of the city of Nantes had shown that the density of private doctors in Nantes in the so-called priority neighborhoods (QPV) was very lower than the average observed in the urban area.  They have 49 doctors per 100,000 inhabitants, compared to 93 on average across the Nantes metropolitan area” recalled last year in the municipal council, the mayor of the city Johanna Rolland.

This study revealed that the number of practitioners had fallen sharply (-30%) since 2016 following the retirement of general practitioners: In the working-class neighborhoods of the metropolis, we have the same difficulties…
