The magazine 60 Millions de consommateurs revealed the pie crust that was the best of all for your health!
Consumers don’t always have time to cook. With work, children to manage and the house to run, the French no longer spend as much time in the kitchen. It is for this reason that several favor ready-made pie crust.
60 Million consumers come to the aid of the French
While many people love to cook, they don’t always have the time to do it. This is why they do not hesitate to opt for quick solutions that are also very practical.
And the least we can say is that pie crust is the ideal product. On the other hand, it is important to choose it carefully. And for good reason, they are not all equal. It’s still difficult to make the right choice.
With all the pasta on sale on the market, the French are not always able to make the right decision. Fortunately, 60 Million Consumers helped them see more clearly on the subject.
The magazine analyzed several brands of industrial puff pastry and shortcrust pastry. The magazine rated each product according to health and quality criteria. Know that there is a product that managed to stand out from the rest.
Plus, it costs less than 2 euros. The experts from 60 Millions de consommateurs analyzed the ingredients of 24 industrial pie crust references, from the most popular to the most accessible brands.
The best pie crusts
The observation of 60 million consumers? The compositions vary a lot and the majority of doughs are made from T55 wheat flour. It is white, refined flour, water and fat. But that’s not all.
Some brands also use butter, others oil or even margarine. 60 Million Consumers then stated that, the longer the list of ingredients, the more the dough may contain additives.
Please note that some pie crust recipes contain up to eleven ingredients. However, it only takes three. The fewer ingredients there are, the more natural and healthy the dough is often.
For those who prefer shortcrust pastry, several stand out. White Apron dough the Repère E.Leclerc brand gets the best rating. It got 12 out of 20. You can also find it for only 1.24 euros.
Brands to favor
It is a product that has a simple composition and quality good enough for your health. The Picard shortcrust pastry and that of La Vie Claire closely follow Leclerc with a score of 11.5 out of 20.
However, their price is higher. Picard offering two pastas for 4.30 euros. While La Vie Claire sells just one for 2.19 euros. Other brands like Toque du Chef from Lidl, Carrefour Classic’, Franprix and Marie also obtain scores ranging from 10 to 11/20.
These are pretty decent grades. On the other hand, pie crusts have more complex and very often less natural compositions. You must therefore be careful not to consume them very often.
Puff pastry pie crusts analyzed by 60 million consumers have much higher ratings. There Franprix puff pastry, at 1.75 euros, received the best rating with 13.5 out of 20.
This is also the case for Picard puff pastry, sold at 4.60 euros for a set of two. Other puff pastries also stand out for their quality. This is the case with Naturalia pie dough.
And Leclerc’s White Apron. Toque du Chef puff pastry from Lidl, as well as those from Herta, Marie and Monoprix bio also obtained a good place in the magazine’s ranking.
