It is through a video message, published Thursday November 14 on social networks, that Jean-Noël Carpentier, mayor (Mouvement des Progressistes) of Montigny-lès-Cormeilles (Val-d’Oise) wanted to share “a personal event difficult “.
“The doctors are optimistic about the progress of my illness and so am I”
“I wish to do it out of transparency, respect and above all to do it in the name of the many moments spent together. In fact, not long ago, doctors diagnosed me with lung cancer. This is obviously bad news, which tens of thousands of people unfortunately receive every year. Regarding me, the doctors are optimistic about the progress of my illness and so am I. Starting next week, I will begin treatment which will last several weeks. You will therefore see me during this period a little less in the streets, a little less on my bike or even a little less during various municipal events.”
Then add:
“My colleagues from the municipal majority have kindly assured me of their full support. I thank them very warmly. We have organized ourselves now for this temporary period and thus continue our work at your service.”
He confirms that he wishes to be a candidate in 2026 in the municipal elections
Jean-Noël Carpentier took the opportunity to confirm what he had announced several months ago, namely his wish to be a candidate again for the next municipal elections in 2026.
“This provisional test does not change anything in my decision.”
And to conclude thus:
“Dear Ignymontains, I know I can count on your understanding and kindness. This will be an additional strength and I will obviously keep you informed of the progress of my treatment.”
This announcement naturally sparked an avalanche of support and comments.
“My heart goes out to you (…) We send you lots of strength! (…) You are a wonderful mayor, very human and very good, I wish you to overcome this cancer quickly (…) your mental strength as a fighter, a fighter and all our support will accompany you in this ordeal (…) Cancer has no chance if you deploy as much energy to defeat it as you invested in making our beautiful city what it is today! »
Aged 54, Jean-Noël Carpentier has been mayor of Montigny-lès-Cormeilles since March 16, 2009. He then succeeded Robert Hue.
