Michel Gabas, mayor of Eauze opened the ceremony by thanking the many partners who had this initiative and who, with great dedication, worked for its implementation in the Gers department:

Nadia Benoit, after recalling the Pink October operation and the strong mobilization of the Gers residents, clarified:

“The screening rate in Gers is still too low. Our department has a strength with this partnership. I thank all the actors who managed to overcome the obstacles with great determination. A service for all those women who, far from imaging centers, have difficulty performing mammograms…”

Catherine Guintoli recalled that following the alarming figures with the ARS, the association was able to create this movable:

“Everyone pitched in. We are happy to be able to come to Gers…”

During his speech, Philippe Dupouy provided the following details: “The mammobile will crisscross the Gers during the months of November and December to meet women aged 50 to 74.

The appointment book is already full with nearly 400 requests registered, proof that this type of initiative is favorably received by the Gersoises.

This ambitious project reflects the desire to make breast cancer screening accessible to all and is part of a collective prevention strategy in a department where the participation rate in organized screening is still far too low.

This high-tech equipment, mounted on a semi-trailer, is equipped with a mammograph and a consultation room, allowing women to carry out an x-ray and breast palpation on site. It will be piloted by radio technicians, as well as by doctors and midwives from the Departmental Health Center and the Sexual Health Center.

The “Mammobile” system, supported by the Departmental Health Center, is financed by the Regional Health Agency (ARS).

The Primary Health Insurance Fund, the French Mutualité, the Mutualité Sociale Agricole (MSA), the League against Cancer and the regional cancer screening coordination centers also support this initiative. Shared with the Ariège Prévention Mobile Association, the “Mammobile” broadens its scope of action by offering its services to as many women as possible in the region. By facilitating access to breast cancer screening, the “Mammobile” is a concrete response to the needs of residents of Gers, and is part of the continuity of the actions carried out by the Departmental Council to guarantee equality for all. access to health.

The Mammobile system is a major advance in prevention and is part of a collective dynamic of prevention and public health, with a simple but crucial objective: to make breast cancer screening accessible to all women, wherever they are. are located in our department.
