Lhe actions are fewer than for Pink October, but they exist! After the month dedicated to breast cancer awareness, here is the month where the public is alerted to male diseases. In Sézanne, actions for “Movember”, or Blue November, will be held on Sunday November 17, 2024. They are organized by the agricultural cooperative Novagrain, supported by the City and sports associations.
“It’s been two years since Novagrain got involved in Pink October. We said to ourselves that it was also an opportunity to highlight men’s health. Since there is nothing that exists in the area, or it is very rare, we said to ourselves that we were going to do it”explains Louise Guillier, initiator of the project and communications manager at the cooperative.
1. A blue step
From 9 to 10 a.m., Sunday November 17, a 3, 5 or 10 kilometer walk is offered. Arrival and departure will be at the cooperative, route de Fère-Champenoise in Sézanne. “At 9 hours, there will be groups which will be formed with a nurse and the Randonneurs du Sézannais, who imagined the routes. Departure can also be free. At the arrival of the march, entertainment will take place »indicates Louise Guillier. A contribution of 2 euros is requested.
“The mustache is truly the symbol of Movember. So why not encourage more people to wear mustaches?
2. A mustache contest
The approach is unusual since it is a mustache competition! “The mustache is truly the symbol of Movember. So why not encourage more people to wear a mustache. It can be funny”smiles the one who is at the head of the project. To add a touch of humor and professionalism, she contacted, via social networks, Loïc Papillon so that he becomes president of the jury.
If you don’t know him, Loïc Papillon is originally from Connantre and holds numerous competitions for the most beautiful natural beard and stylized mustache, in France and around the world. In particular, he has just won, in October 2024, the title of champion of England.
“There will be several winners. One will be chosen by public vote. It will work like sponsorship. Members of the public will make a donation of 1 euro each and they will be able to put their token on the photo of their favorite person. For the second winner, it is the jury who decides »she explains. The two winners will win prizes.
3. A photo booth and prevention stands
In the courtyard of the Novagrain company, a photo booth will be installed on November 17. “We see it in all events now”underlines Louise Guillier. You will have to pay 1 euro per souvenir photo. In addition, prevention stands will be on site. The League Against Cancer will be represented. A small catering will also be available.
There is no need to register in advance to participate in these activities. The money collected will be entirely donated to associations. Information on the website: www.novagrain.coop
