We know that there is no longer a single ranking at the end of the ranking tests, but rather 13 rankings in 13 groups of specialties (head and neck surgical specialties: ophthalmology, ENT, maxillofacial surgery, oral surgery , plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery, neurosurgery, Surgery other than head and neck: thoracic and cardiovascular surgery, vascular surgery, visceral and digestive surgery, pediatric surgery, gynecology-obstetrics, urology, orthopedic surgery, Acute medicine: anesthesia-resuscitation, intensive medicine-resuscitation, emergency medicine, Investigative medicine (imaging): radiology and medical imaging, nuclear medicine, anatomy and pathological cytology, Investigative medicine (biology): medical biology, medical genetics, Public health and forensic medicine: public health, occupational medicine and health, forensic medicine and medical expertise, General medicine, Pediatrics, Endocrinology and medical gynecology: endocrinology-diabetology-nutrition, medical gynecology, Transversal medical specialties: geriatrics, internal medicine and clinical immunology, infectious and tropical diseases, allergology, dermatology and venereology, rheumatology, Neurology and psychiatry: psychiatry, neurology, medicine rehabilitation physics, Oncology and hepato-gastroenterology: hematology, oncology, hepato-gastroenterology, Cardiopulmonary specialties: cardiovascular medicine, vascular medicine, pulmonology, nephrology).
In a previous article, we gave a trend on which specialty groups were chosen as a priority by new interns.
Here is the trend to find out which were the favorite university hospitals. And we repeat, this is only a trend, established from the three CHUs chosen by the first three in each group of specialists and the three CHUs chosen by the last three in these same 13 groups. This does not take into account the number of places per CHU, nor of course the choices of the nearly 8,000 interns. But it remains an indication.
The AP-HP in the lead, Martinique and Guadeloupe last
So we can say that the AP-HP, which is also the largest university hospital with its 38 hospitals, was the most cited and chosen 11 times among the interns of the top three.
Just after we can estimate that the Bordeaux University Hospital arrives 2echosen 6 times by the interns of the leading trio. Next come the University Hospitals of Grenoble, Toulouse and Lyon, selected 5 times by the highest ranked interns in each group.
For the shunned CHUs, if we stick, again to the choices of the last three in each of the groups, the Martinique/Guadeloupe CHUs appear 12 times. Which suggests that the West Indies were not very popular this year with the internals. The most named university hospital, next by the lowest ranked, is Amiens with 5 interns, followed by the AP-HM with 3 interns.
So if we summarize, our (pseudo) ranking, the preferred university hospitals in 2024 are:
- Paris
- Bordeaux
- Tied: Grenoble, Toulouse and Lyon
And the least popular university hospitals with interns in 2024 are:
- Martinique-Guadeloupe
- Amiens
- Marseille
