The result of high quality legislative work.
For more than a year, the PCF has been campaigning and supporting this bill relating to the coverage by Health Insurance of care linked to the treatment of breast cancer since the significant meeting with Marie-Noëlle Martin in a public meeting on women’s rights in Aurillac…
Affected by the illness, Marie-Noëlle had listed and denounced the significant remaining expenses that she had to face, particularly in terms of so-called supportive care – very poorly named “comfort” – yet essential to tolerate the treatments and rebuild herself physically and psychologically. .
WE PROMISED TO GO TO THE END!
This victory is the result of long-term joint work.
With Shirley Wirden, head of the PCF’s Feminist and Women’s Rights commission;
With Yannick Monnet and Fabien Roussel, the co-authors of the law in the National Assembly and our GDR deputies;
With Marie-Noëlle Martin, and all these women who find the strength to fight for more justice;
With Anthony Goncalves, oncologist and member of the PCF National Council;
With Cathy Apourceau-Poly, rapporteur of the proposal in the Senate, and all our senators from the CRCE-K group
and with you, signatories of our petition, members of the party, supporters.
LET’S BE PROUD TO HAVE WON THIS BATTLE!
The continuation…
It is now the home stretch with a return to the Assembly to put an end to inequality in the face of this disease which affects one in eight women, which causes the greatest number of deaths among women and whose annual number of new cases have almost doubled in 30 years.
Once the law is adopted, this care will finally be considered essential and excess fees will be regulated.
Adapted physical activity, dietetic consultations, hair and breast prostheses… While more than 60,000 new cases are diagnosed each year, breast cancer places many women in a fragile financial situation, between often high out-of-pocket costs and numerous expenses relating to additional – and non-reimbursed – care or the purchase of accessories (suitable underwear, creams, varnish against nail loss, etc.).
And then again?
After ? We continue with other cancers, we fight for a real public health service, against medical deserts, for 100% coverage by social security of all illnesses!
