Be careful if you have boxes of the food supplement Serrapeptase, marketed by the Biocyte laboratory, in your cupboard. These capsules have been the subject of a recall since May 28, 2024, according to the dangerous product alerts site Rappel Conso.

Serrapeptase recall: an ingredient without authorization

Serrapeptase food supplements from the Longevity range from the Biocyte laboratory have been recalled by the authorities because they contain a banned substance: serratipeptidase. Indeed, this product, which would help fight inflammation according to the laboratory that manufactures it, does not have marketing authorization in France.

In addition, Rappel Conso also warns of possible side effects such as skin rashes, breathing difficulties and allergies. The food supplement is also not recommended for pregnant and breastfeeding women.

The measure concerns boxes containing 60 capsules sold between September 28, 2022 and May 23, 2024 in pharmacies and parapharmacies throughout the country. People in possession of these products are asked not to consume them and to destroy them or return them to a pharmacy.
