This Saturday, October 26, the Carcassonne Municipal Tourist Office, in collaboration with the City, is organizing a day dedicated to the fight against breast cancer as part of Pink October. In particular, a solidarity sewing workshop and a guided tour are planned.
For the symbol, the City of Carcassonne was chosen. On site, Saturday October 26, an exceptional day will take place organized to mark the fight against breast cancer as part of Pink October. The Carcassonne Municipal Tourist Office, in collaboration with the City, was responsible for the planning.
Between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m., a solidarity sewing workshop will take place at Place du Prado. The event is obviously intended to be charitable and will allow those who wish to express their know-how by making “post-operative cushions, donation bags and turbans for affected women” by the disease, indicates the Carcassonne Municipal Tourist Office in a press release. As previously assumed, no matter the level displayed in sewing, everyone will be welcome to “help out”.
To participate, a reservation made in advance will be required. No need to bring back your equipment, supplies will be provided on the big day. All creations will be offered to the oncology department of the Carcassonne hospital center or sold for the benefit of the League Against Cancer.
At the same time, from 3:30 p.m. to 5:15 p.m., a special guided tour will be accessible to all. Entitled “Women through the history of the City”, it will offer a look back over ten centuries of history and discover the portraits of women who marked their era. The entry fee will be €12 and all proceeds will also be donated to the League Against Cancer.
