This Saturday, October 26, the Municipal Tourist Office, in collaboration with the City, is organizing a day dedicated to the fight against breast cancer as part of Pink October.

For the symbol, the City of Carcassonne was chosen. On site, Saturday October 26, an exceptional day will take place organized to mark the fight against breast cancer as part of Pink October. The Carcassonne Municipal Tourist Office, in collaboration with the City, was responsible for the planning.

An event open to all levels

Between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m., a solidarity sewing workshop will take place at Place du Prado. The event is obviously intended to be charitable and will allow those who wish to express their know-how by making “post-operative cushions, donation bags and turbans for affected women” by the disease, indicates the Carcassonne Municipal Tourist Office in a press release.

As previously assumed, no matter the level displayed in sewing, everyone will be welcome to “help out”.

No need to bring back your equipment, supplies will be provided on the big day. All creations will be offered to the oncology department of the Carcassonne hospital center or sold for the benefit of the League Against Cancer.

At the same time, from 3:30 p.m. to 5:15 p.m., a special guided tour will be accessible to all. Entitled “Women through the history of the City”, it will offer a look back over ten centuries of history and discover the portraits of women who marked their era.

The entry fee will be €12 and all proceeds will also be donated to the League Against Cancer.

Hospital Awareness

A little earlier in the week, this Thursday, October 24, the hospital center organized an awareness campaign on breast cancer in the hall. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., several associations and volunteers came to hold stands addressing everyone about the risks posed by this disease.

Among the volunteers, we could see: Aleksandra Kats, a specialized tattoo artist who offered tattoos on scars, Nicole Tenier, a reflexologist showing mini discovery treatments and Kibiconseil, personal development coach who presented a color workshop. Also present were associations such as the CRCDC (Regional Cancer Screening Coordination Center) with screening test workshops, La Ligue Contre le Cancer, which raised awareness of the risk of breast cancer and finally, the CPAM (Primary Funds of health insurance) showing the eligibility of people on screenings.

Jean-Marie Bolliet, the director of the hospital, was delighted and thanked the volunteers and associations present while expressing his wish to “Become aware of the real danger that breast cancer is, it’s life, it’s survival”. He closed his speech by stating: “May this rose be in the eyes of those who beat him.”
