SP Côte-Nord Walk 2024: a record amount raised

“We had a goal of $15,000 and we managed to exceed it,” says Kate Porter, executive director of the Multiple Sclerosis Association of Canada, North Shore section. An amount of $17,764 was raised during the May 26 event.

The 2024 Walk of Hope, which took place once again this year at Parc des Pionniers in Baie-Comeau, was able to count on mother nature, but especially on the walkers who were there. “The participation is there, we had at least 70 to 75 people who came to the site and gave a donation,” Ms. Porter said with pride during the event.

The City of Baie-Comeau and their Union were particularly generous for the 30th anniversary of the event. In memory of advisor Alain Chouinard who died suddenly in September 2023, as well as for employees suffering from multiple sclerosis, they offered a total of $4,000.

The visibility of the organization makes it possible to raise awareness of the existence of the association with this walk in Baie-Comeau. More than 18 cities set up this march simultaneously in order to collect as many donations as possible for medical research.

Ms. Porter reminds us that there is still time to give, until June 30.
