ONCOLOGY – Towards a new health center in Bayonne

This ambitious project, financed to the tune of 15 million euros by private funds, will extend over 5,000 m², right next to the Basque Country Oncology and Radiotherapy Center (COPB), inaugurated in 2023. The first The stone was laid on October 10 in the presence of elected officials, health professionals and local associations.

The center will bring together major players, such as the Océan imagery group, with cutting-edge equipment (scanners, MRI, ultrasound), as well as an analysis laboratory managed by Inovie Axbio.

The project will also include an annex to the Château Caradoc clinic, specialized in the treatment of eating disorders among young people. The director of the COPB, Maxime Bobin, insists on the importance of a multidisciplinary approach, facilitating access to care for patients and their families. This grouping makes it possible to centralize essential medical services, thus avoiding multiple trips for patients.

Among the innovations, the presence of an oncocardiology unit is also planned, a specialty which is developing around cardiovascular side effects linked to cancer treatments. This new infrastructure, in synergy with the Basque Coast Hospital Center, is seen as a beneficial project for both the neighborhood and the region, combining cutting-edge medical technologies and a diversified range of care.
