The baguette is part of one of the flagship products of French heritage. It’s also difficult to do without a good piece of bread during meals. It is at dinner that the French consume it the most at 77%, followed by lunch at 76% and breakfast at 65%. If bread is particularly popular, it will be more or less good for your health depending on its variety.

Indeed, to make the most of its virtues, you still need to choose it carefully. Precisely, the gastroenterologist and author of several works such as “Microbiotic Medicine”, William Berrebi advised on his Instagram account what type of bread to choose so that it is beneficial for the intestinal microbiota. We will explain everything to you.

As a reminder, the intestinal microbiota represents a set of bacteria living in the intestine. It directly influences our state of health and its imbalance can lead to digestive disorders. In order to avoid inconveniences, it is essential to maintain a good balance and thus ensure a certain digestive comfort. For this, a particular bread would be very effective: spelled flour bread.

Indeed, it is an interesting product “thanks to its richness in prebiotic fibers good for the intestinal microbiota” explains the doctor. As pointed out the site Here, “Prebiotic fibers nourish the bacteria in your intestinal microbiota. Once ingested, they promote an environment conducive to the development of good bacteria. In addition, prebiotic fibers produce short-chain fatty acids, which are beneficial for the digestive system.”

The gastroenterologist William Berrebi also specifies that this type of bread is particularly interesting for health since it is “rich in protein, with 15 grams per 100 grams, with eight of the ten amino acids essential to the human body”. Furthermore, it is also “rich in minerals, particularly magnesium, it contains more than wheat flour bread” and also contains “less gluten, but if you are intolerant to gluten, you cannot eat it, on the other hand, if you are only hypersensitive, you can perfectly eat this bread”.
