Every year, Pink October is the month dedicated to the fight against breast cancer. From 1is as of October 31, health professionals, NGOs and associations are gathered around the world around information on breast cancer screening.
Events organized in the department
The Department of Charente-Maritime is supporting the League Against Cancer (17) during the month of October. A whole program of activities is organized throughout the territory.
Initiatives such as races, conferences, lotteries, wellness workshops and other events are organized everywhere to help raise funds for medical and scientific research. All funds raised during this period are entirely donated to associations which help and support people with cancer as well as to research.
SCREEN TO SAVE
Screening is a simple, quick and free examination, carried out by an approved radiologist. More than one in two women now participate in this program in Charente-Maritime, but the participation rate remains below the national objective set at 70%. Operation “Pink October” is an opportunity to raise public awareness to save lives.
