Raising your elbow is bad for blood pressure
More than 10 glasses per week is considered as “consumption excessive”. This habit of “raising your elbow” too often increases blood pressure. According to a study published on April 30 by Public health France, more than 650,000 adults suffer from high blood pressure due to their consumption ofexcessive alcohol. The study was conducted on adults aged between 18 and 75 years old.
“Winning” men
According to data from the health agency, of these 655,000 cases, men are widely majority with 624,000 men compared to 31,000 women. According to French researchers, the “important difference» between men and women results from episodes of binge drinking and massive alcoholism more common in some than in others. Binge drinking is massive consumption of alcohol over a very short period of time.
One in three French people are hypertensive
In France, one in three adults is hypertensive, i.e. approximately 17 million people. Hypertension is called “silent” because no sign is not visible during years. Moreover, 3 to 4 million hypertensive patients are unaware of their pathology. The danger ? A untreated hypertension considerably increases the risk of‘strokeheart attack or diabetes.
Alcohol: 40,000 deaths per year
Public Health France also recalls that the alcohol continues to kill in France more than 40,000 deaths attributable. Alcohol increases cardiovascular risks, cirrhosis as well as some cancers.
