Officially scheduled for September 21 and 22, in Génolhac, they will in fact have lasted all summer. This year’s theme is Heritage of routes, networks and connections. However, since May-June, it has been a question of itinerancy, of cultural networks with the Aosta Valley and Catalonia.
The roads of Exile were in the spotlight in July, and the Camisards in August. American descendants of the Cévennes Huguenots are returning this week to rediscover their roots. Also honoring those who remained here as “rebels” under the leadership of Jouany, the tile maker and leader of the local revolt.
Discovery of the city of historical times
A discussion around a plate is planned for Friday, September 27 at the AEP with a medieval research historian to take stock of the Régordane path which will serve as a common thread this Saturday, September 21.
It is at the station, symbol of journeys, departures and arrivals, that a team of guides will successively welcome two groups of visitors who will be offered the discovery of the city, that of historical times and that of today in the news of its territory.
They will pick up visitors who came by train (SNCF is a partner of the event) and those who came by car. During both tours, they will also meet people from the trade, producers and local community activities. The Saturday market will also be the target with its picturesque and obvious social function in the heart of the village.
Many surprise discoveries are announced. Catering will be free in all its forms, informed by the document distributed on arrival in front of the station.
The afternoon will be an opportunity for botanical discoveries with the theme of traveling plants, and that of the Jouany bridge at the Pont du Mas campsite. The image of a living, animated village, surrounded by its remarkable history, with a quality contemporary life should, beyond the heritage, make you want to come back in “high Cévennes perfectly crisscrossed with roaming paths, various networks and connections of all kinds”.
