Immunotherapies are currently revolutionizing the treatment of cancers. Among these, anti-tumor virotherapy occupies a special place since it aims to use viruses capable of specifically infecting and destroying malignant cells without affecting healthy cells. These viruses also have the capacity to activate different players in the immune system and have shown their effectiveness and absence of toxicity in several clinical trials. “Our team has been working for several years to better understand the interactions between these viruses and cancer cells but also to modify these viruses to improve their anti-tumor properties,” underlines Nicolas Boisgerault. This conference will aim to present the principles of this new therapeutic approach, to discuss its advantages and limitations and to address recent advances in this field.
