Another very hot, slightly stormy and windy day was on the menu for the players competing in the Down Bank Golf Challenge this Saturday. In these difficult conditions, only 23 cards under par were signed, and no more than six under 70! Today's performance was the work ofAldrich Potgieterauthor of an exceptional 66 (-6) including four birdies and an eagle. Winner of British Amateur in 2022, turned pro in the summer of 2023 and crowned at the start of the season on the Korn Ferry Tour (the second American division), the 20-year-old South African is in pole position to win the most prized trophy in South African golf, since at -7 total after 54 holes he is three shots ahead of his dolphins, the Italian Francesco Laporta (69) and English Matthew Jordan (71).
If the French are no longer at the forefront, they nevertheless remain in the hunt for the title after a complicated third round. Romain Langasquewithout success in putting on the return, limited the damage by snatching a 73 (+1) which leaves him 4th, -3 and four shots behind the leader. On his side Julien Guerrier conceded a 75 (+3) and fell back to 7th place, but with five strokes behind and rain forecast at the end of the day which should considerably soften the course of the Gary Player Country Clubhe maintains his chances of reversing the trend this Sunday.
