At -10 (132) thanks to an excellent card of 65 (-6), the Australian joined his compatriot Elvis Smylieleader Thursday evening after also posting a 65 (the tournament was reduced to 54 holes due to the heavy rains which fell on Brisbane and its region on Friday).
The final round this Sunday on the Golf Coast promises to be exciting since other big favorites are in ambush, within driving distance of the two leading men. Let's quote here Marc Leishmananother member of LIV Golf, 914th in the world (!), only third at -9 (133), or even Jason Day31st in the world, ninth at -6 (136).
Very strong Thursday with a start completed by an excellent 66 (-5), Victor Perez had more difficulty on the par 71 at the Royal Queensland Golf Club. Starting from 10, the Frenchman suffered on his first nine holes (three bogeys, including two at 10 and 11, and a birdie) before correcting his sights on the return (two birdies at 2 and 7). His 71 (par) nevertheless makes him lose fifteen places on the leaderboard but he still remains concerned by a possible victory. Tarbais, 17th at -5 (137), is five shots behind the leaders.
This is also the case for Jeong Weon Ko69 (-2) today. The golfer from Bussy (77), still in par after 15 holes played, finished with a bang, hitting two birdies at 7 then at 9. He will play on Sunday in the company of the Dane n°1 of the Road to Mallorca, Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen.
Three places for The Open in Melbourne…
Adrien Saddier will also be there for this last round. The Haut-Savoyard returned a very good 68 (-3) which sends him to 25th place at -4 (138), just like the Englishman Jordan Smithwho was unable to pick up last week at Dubai one of the ten spots for PGA Tour 2025.
Alone Pierre Pineau failed. Author of a 70 (-1) Thursday, the golfer from Vaudreuil, coached by Guillaume Biaugeaudhad to settle for a 73 (+2). Insufficient to pass the cut set at -2. We will meet him in Melbourne next Thursday for theISPS Handa Australian Open. Two years ago, he took 10th place in the final before finishing 63rd last year… Three places for The Open at the Royal Portrush (Northern Ireland) will be put into play!
