Journalist Thierry David in discussions to leave Canal+

During the first round of the FedEx Open de France which took place at the Golf National de Saint-Quentin en Yvelines in mid-October, consultants Fabrice Tarnaud and Patrice Barquez slipped live around the game of Matthieu Pavon, son of Béatrice Pavon-Deler and Michel Pavon, ex-professional footballer turned coach. Inappropriate remarks made on air which had led the best French players (including Victor Perez, Ugo Coussaud and Julien Guerrier) to also boycott the cameras of the encrypted channel for end-of-day interviews, in support of Matthieu Pavon. Before the last round of the tournament, the two protagonists had been removed from the air, following an article in Figaro TV Magazine.

This week, L'Équipe revealed that Thierry David, head of golf on Canal+, was in turn sanctioned by dismissal. The Canal+ group did not wish to comment on this information. For his part, Thierry David acknowledged that discussions existed on the Pure Médias site – “lThe will of both parties is that things go well” – confirming to our colleagues at Golf Planète: “ Today we are talking but, yes, I am going to leave.”
