The fourth Fedex Fall Series tournament on the PGA Tour has delivered its verdict and crowned its winner for the 2024 edition in the person of JT Poston. Serene and formidable on the greens, the man from North Carolina won the Shriners Children’s Open by one stroke ahead of Doug Ghim, his third career title.

For two years, J.T. Poston has established himself as one of the most consistent and serious players on the PGA Tour. Paradoxically, this confirmation in terms of level of play had until now been achieved without a victory to validate it. It is now done.

Find the complete ranking

By winning the Shriners Children’s Open in -22 total in Las Vegas, the 31-year-old came to end a drought of more than two years in the American elite, to add a third title to his list after the Wyndham Championship 2019 and John Deere Classic 2022. A victory acquired as a favorite, from the top of his 41st Fedex rank and after having held control of the tournament since the end of the second day of competition.

“It means a lot to me. I worked hard. I have worked hard for each of my victories, but this one is really nice. We had a beautiful fall at home. We had a nice break at the end of the playoffs. Just being home and being a father has been the greatest gift. I loved that. It’s a very nice feeling,” declared the winner on the 18th green.

Doug Ghim pushed it all the way

Associated with one of the local players of the stage, JT Poston started the last lap with a lead of three lengths. A lead from which he had to draw until the end to finally triumph over the competition. And she was tenacious in the person of Doug Pin. The American, former world number 1 amateur but never yet titled in the American elite, would have happily made this week at home a first on the grand tour. And to give himself the means to achieve his ambitions, he came back a head length when approaching the return of TPC Summerlin.

But again four lengths behind, the 6th best player in SG iron in hand this season on the PGA Tour pushed one last time to try to make his opponent doubt for victory. His birdie on the 18th to come back within a length could have destabilized more than one player, but not JT Poston. Ghim, finally 2nd in -21 total, however offers himself his best career result and also certainty about his game.

« JI did everything I could, obviously. I haven’t had the best story so far in the last few rounds and parts, so it’s definitely going to be satisfying from now on, in the sense that the next time I’m in position, I’ll have this in my memory, knowing that I have done it before. Ultimately you try to beat the leader on the last lap and that’s what I did. I just missed one point. I am proud of my work,” thus retained the Las Vegas resident.

Matti Schmid the German and Rico Hoey the Filipino both complete the podium and at the same time secure playing rights for next year.
